Lanky lizards and all that slinkster-cool stuff

Dangerous Angels by Francesca Lia Block
I have to tell you guys, inspiration comes in mysterious ways. For some reason I had to pick up Rachel Corrie’s writings. For days following I was happily lost in this world of creative possibility and bittersweet brilliance. And it’s happened again with Francesca Lia Block, who wrote the Weetzie Bat series. This time, however, Block has written a fictional account of a group of friends in California who personify creativity, acceptance, and love. They’re kind of hippy, but in the best possible way. She has six books in the series, and the first five are compiled in a book called Dangerous Angels. On the cover of the book, the New York Times Book Review describes it as “transcendent,” and I couldn’t agree more.
