Rachel Corrie intrigues and inspires me. That’s all there is to it. Except, you ask, why? And I suppose I have to give you some information: This is a different kind of memoir in that it uses Rachel’s own poems and emails to paint a picture of her life. Her family wrote notes on some of her work to explain the background, but mostly it’s about Rachel as an artist and an activist, and a truly intelligent woman. Corrie died tragically in the Gaza strip in 2003 at the age of 23. My mind keeps going back to this tragically beautiful book, and I strongly recommend to it anyone.
